Our Head of Healthcare Proposition, Dawn Prescott, commented on the August NHS waiting list figures, which show the number of patients awaiting treatment has fallen.

Dawn Prescott, Head of Healthcare Proposition at The Exeter, comments:

“Today’s figures are encouraging and reflect the enormous amount of work NHS staff have done to bring waiting times down, despite June being the busiest month on record for average daily A&E attendances and this summer’s heatwaves adding further strain. There is still more work to do, but this is a positive step in the right direction

With 43% of UK adults having used private healthcare in the six-month period from March 2026, it’s clear more people are looking for additional ways to access treatment. As demand for care continues to rise, closer collaboration between the NHS and private sector will be key to expanding capacity, giving patients greater certainty over when they'll be treated, and improving access to timely care.”
