HealthWise - The smart way to take care of yourself

As a member of The Exeter, you and your family have access to the HealthWise app, our member benefits service.

HealthWise is designed to help keep you healthy and happy every day. The app offers quick and convenient medical advice and treatments that can be accessed from anywhere in the world on your smartphone or tablet.

What’s more, HealthWise can be used without the need to claim on your policy, using HealthWise will never affect your premiums. Consultations are for each policyholder, and if you or your immediate family use the service, the service will be deducted from your allowance.

Here’s what HealthWise offers you in addition to your policy:

For all members:

GP on demand and prescription service (up to 4 consultations each year)

With demand for GP appointments rising and the number of NHS GPs falling, it comes as little surprise that many people have to wait weeks to be seen1.

HealthWise takes this wait away, by allowing you to book phone or video consultations via the app with experienced UK-based GPs without leaving home, or from anywhere in the world.

The service offers clinical advice and guidance, and GPs can issue a prescription if required or recommend further treatment.

For all members (except cash plan members):

Second medical opinion service (up to 2 consultations each year)

Sometimes we all need a second opinion to help make a difficult decision. You can use HealthWise to access a second medical opinion, where a diagnosis can be assessed and analysed by a second expert pair of eyes. It could provide an alternative diagnosis, different treatment plan, or just valuable reassurance.

Services available: Weekdays 8am-7pm (excluding Bank Holidays) and Saturday 9am-1pm for GP on demand and second medical opinion services.

For income protection and health insurance members:

Physiotherapy (up to 6 consultations each year)

With HealthWise you can also receive assessment, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. With access to a network of over 5,000 physiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths across the UK, you can access the help you need via video consultations.

Services available: Weekdays 9am-4pm

Mental health support (up to 6 consultations each year)

HealthWise gives you access to fully trained specialists who can assess and treat a range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression and substance abuse, as well as offering emotional and behavioural support. The service is provided by video consultation with therapists via the app.

For life cover members:

Lifestyle coaching (up to 6 consultations each year)

With HealthWise, you can access lifestyle coaching, which is designed to take a holistic view across a range of areas that can affect your health, wellbeing and happiness. It could be sleep patterns, achieving mindfulness or perhaps achieving a better work-life balance. Lifestyle coaching is designed to tackle any problems that exist and deliver long-term and sustainable improvements.

Services available: Weekdays 9am-4pm

Nutritional advice (up to 6 consultations each year)

Our nutritional advice service will assess your lifestyle and nutritional goals. The nutritional consultations aim not just to improve your health and wellbeing but also helps you gain an understanding of the main food groups (fat, protein, carbohydrate), vitamins and minerals to help you make long-term sustainable changes to your diet.

All consultations are all conducted by fully qualified and registered nutritional consultants.

How to access HealthWise

The HealthWise app will be available to existing members shortly.

It will be available to download for free from the App Store or Google Play. You will need your policy details in order to activate your HealthWise account.

HealthWise and all member benefits provided by The Exeter don’t form part of any policy, so could change over time. Should you use the HealthWise service and proceed to make a claim on your policy, it is likely that we will require further medical information to assess your claim.
