Health+ myth busting

1. My health insurance product replaces the NHS
False: Health insurance is designed to work alongside the NHS, not replace it. Your policy provides you with access to private care after a referral from your usual GP. You’ll still be able to use the NHS and can even claim an NHS cash benefit if you proceed with NHS treatment that could be covered by your policy with us.
2. My health insurance product doesn’t support mental health
False: If you’ve added the mental health module to your policy, you’re covered for:
- Unlimited out-patient cover
- 28 days per policy year of in-patient/day-patient cover
If you haven’t added the module, you can still access virtual mental health support through HealthWise, our member benefits app. As a member of The Exeter, you’re entitled to HealthWise at no extra cost. Find out more - Member benefits | Customer | The Exeter.
3. I need a full diagnosis before I can claim
False: You don’t need a diagnosis, but you do need a GP referral. Your GP must refer you and you must contact us for pre-approval before proceeding with any treatment.
Remember! All claims are subject to underwriting and approval.
