Great news! We’ve improved your NHS cash benefit.

Your health and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do, so we’re delighted to share some exciting updates to your cover. You’ll enjoy even more value when you use NHS services covered under your policy:

• £250 per night for in-patient stays in an NHS hospital (previously £150)
• A new £150 per day benefit for NHS day-patient treatment (where you don’t stay overnight e.g. day-patient chemotherapy)
• No excess deduction – you’ll now receive the full NHS cash benefit amount
• A single annual cap of up to £10,000 across NHS cash benefits, subject to product specific limits

An important note: You can claim either the in-patient or day-patient cash benefit at one time, not both. 

What is my NHS cash benefit?

Your NHS cash benefit is a payment we provide when you choose free NHS treatment instead of claiming on your policy. 

Example based on the new improvements: 

If you spend 4 nights in an NHS hospital instead of claiming for private treatment, you’ll receive 4 x £250 = £1,000 cash benefit. 

You don’t need to register a claim to receive the cash benefit, you just need to give our Claims Team a call, and they’ll tell you what evidence you need to provide. It also won’t impact your No Claims Discount if you have one. 

It’s important to remember that your NHS cash benefit can only be given for treatment that would usually be covered by your policy.
